Sinigang na Bangus Recipe
One of the easiest dishes to cook, for me, is Sinigang na Bangus. “…it is a Filipino soup or stew characterized by its sour and savoury taste most often associated with tamarind (Filipino: sampalok). It is one of the more popular dishes in Filipino cuisine.” – Wikipedia
For this recipe, I used boneless milkfish because it is easier to eat, especially if you have a toddler. You can either have the milkfish deboned in the wet market or buy one in the supermarket.
1 Bangus (Milkfish, Cleaned and Sliced)
2 onions sliced
3 tomatoes sliced
20g pack Knorr Sinigang sa Sampalok Mix Original
1 L water
a bunch of kangkong (water spinach), separate the leaves from the stalks
1 bundle sitaw (string beans)
2 sili pangsigang (long green chili, optional)
1 tbsp patis (fish sauce)
- Put tomatoes and onion in a pot of water and let it boil for 10 minutes.
- Add 1 pack of Knorr Sinigang sa Sampaloc Mix, stir.
- Add the milkfish and let it boil, add the fish sauce.
- Put the string beans and kangkong stalks and your preferred veggies.
- Cover the pot and let it boil for another 5 mins.
- Turn the heat off then put the kangkong leaves.
And that’s how I cook our Sinigang na Bangus. You can adjust the taste according to your liking. As for me and my family, these ingredients are enough for our tastebuds.
PS. I also share recipes and other food posts on my Facebook Page. Hope you can follow me there, also. TIA.

Wow Sinigang na Bangus! Gusto ko yung sa belly part ng bangus! Hehehe… Yan pa lang ulam namin kahapon.
This is very useful! I’ve tried cooking pork sinigang but I haven’t tried Sinigang na Bangus. As much as possible, our family don’t use sinigang mix. We often get sampaloc or kamias from our backyard. Hehehe! #provincelife
My boyfriend is obsessed with sinigang ever since he tasted that Max’s famous sinigang. I will show your recipe to him coz it is his agenda to master it.

Sinigang ang favorite ko lutuin dito sa Korea kapag nagcrave ako ng Philippine food kaso ang mahal kasi ng bangus and it’s not fresh na kaya mostly once a month lang or I use another alternative (korean fish) basta makakain lang ng sinigang.
Di pa ako nakakapagtry magluto ng Sinigang, takot kase akong magluto ng isda haha. But I will take note of this post for my future reference 😊
I love sinigang!!! — Pork that is. hehe. But my husband absolutely loves fish. We meet in the middle by ordering seafood sinigang whenever we eat out but at home he cooks pork sinigang. Sinigang na bangus whenever I’m not around naman hehe
I haven’t tried cooking sinigang na bangus myself. Takot kasi ako sa tinik eh lol. But, i will gladly reference this recipe next time na magluto yung papa ko ng sinigang. Yuuuuum. Hahaha
I always loved Sinigang sa Miso but this looks so delicious I want to cook it at home. Once that I am able to buy bangus from the Mobile Palengke, would follow this recipe and tag you online. YAY!

Something good, hearty and Pinoy-therapeutic that would fill our bellies and satiate our cravings. A good ECQ-weekend family lunch to serve. Keep safe always.
Kids would love sinigang anytime of the day. 🙂
Waaah! Nakakamiss ang sinigang na bangus. Sayang, wala kasi kami mabili ngayon, di makatyempo dahil sa lockdown.
Ang sarap naman po niyan! Favorite ko din talaga ang sinigang!
